An Israeli born artist, David Azuz studied at the Academy of Joseph Schwartzman and the Anvi Academy in Tel Aviv before finishing his studies in Paris at the Academy des Beaux Arts. Since the late 1950s Azuz has exhibited in many group and one-man shows in Israel, Europe and the United States. His style may be described as rich in colour, where his paintings are masterfully drawn and full of curiosity for the simple details of life. His subjects in bistros in Paris or New York or markets in the Caribbean, express the solitude of the individual. He currently splits his time between his homes in Paris and Israel and continues to paint the subjects that are identified with this artist. A book of his drawings and paintings was published in the fall of 1998.
