Born in Daliat El Carmel (a Druze village) in 1939, Alkara began his artistic career at age 16. After military service he went to Paris and studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts for a year. Since 1965 he has lived in both Israel and New York. He is a member of the artists’ village, Eih Hod, Israel. The artist has had 9 one-man shows and has participated in many group exhibitions in Europe North America and Israel.
He is represented in Museums and private collections throughout Europe the U.S.A. and Israel.
