Mara Abboud has lived in Italy, Turkey, North Africa and India and has studied at the University of Florence as well as the Rhode Island School of Design. Her numerous one-woman shows have all been sell-outs. Two of her paintings were selected by UNICEF to be reproduced for worldwide publication for their 1979 collection.
The exotic effects of her canvases are produced by constant experimentation with mixed and unorthodox media. Mixed textures, glazes and acrylics impart a glow to her work which is immediately associated with the opulent East and the splendors of the Orient.
Ms. Abboud has had showings throughout the United States and in Venezuela and is represented in public as well as many private collections.
